As an organization, Topia Arts Center is committed to a green philosophy. Our ongoing effort to create a completely green Performing Arts Center in the Historic Adams Theater represents our third green endeavors. Cafe Topia (now called Stone Soup) was re-built using non-toxic and recycled building materials. Topia Inn was built according to LEED Platinum guidelines and has won several awards for it’s beauty and commitment to sustainability.

Adams, MA has a proven history of environmental dedication. It is already a nexus of environmental consciousness with its network of trails amidst the natural beauty of the Greylock Reservation, the proposed Environmental Education Center at Greylock Glen, the 20-year old local photovoltaic company Berkshire Photovoltaic Systems, and the green Visitor’s Center. PERFORMING ARTS CENTER

Topia Arts Center’s historic theater is located in Adams, MA and is currently under development as a completely green Performing Arts Center. A new performing arts and educational center presenting quality music, dance, theater, circus arts, film and visual art exhibits as well as educational and community programs. HISTORIC THEATER

Performing arts have thrived at this location since the early part of the 20th century when the site housed an opera house, the grand old Atlas Theatre, which eventually burned down. OUR STORY

In 2004 Nana Simopoulos met with Donna Cesan, the town of Adams Community Development Director and saw the theater for the first time. They discussed the potential for a cultural center in Adams utilizing the space inside the old Adams Theater. Donna Cesan explained that it would take a very long time for the town to raise the funds to purchase the theater and turn it into a cultural institution but if a private group were to purchase it, the funds would be more quickly obtained… Click here to read more…

Symphony of Carpenters – A unique event

June 12th, 2010 both professional and lay carpenters shook bags of nails, hammered, sanded and did a variety of choreographed sonic events to a live audience. Soon, with the help of volunteers carpenters, the extended stage will be built thanks to the support of all of our participants, volunteers and donations.
